College Counseling

To help our students prepare fully for their college search, the College Counseling Office includes three College Counselors dedicated fully to the college admission process. All three college counselors at the Academy have extensive experience both as College Counselors in independent secondary schools, and selective college admission offices. This combined experience ensures that all Governor's students have full access to the resources and insight necessary for a successful college search.

Throughout their college search, Academy students are encouraged to articulate their values, the implications of their education, and appreciate how their actions make a difference in the lives of others. With this broad approach, students learn to match their diverse personal and school experiences with the colleges they choose to pursue.

Beginning junior year, students engage fully in the process of identifying and researching optimal college matches. Partnering with their College Counselor, students use wide-ranging research resources such as Naviance and educational blogs Huffington Post's College Blog, and online college search programs including the Princeton Review and the College Board's BigFuture college search.
